Wear Your Own Clothes Day - Friday 28th March 2025 (£1 donation)

Spring 1

Week 5

Our Lunar New Year celebrations continued this week with an amazing Dragon Dance in the hall. The children made their own streamers to join in with dance. We finished the week by sharing some Fortune Cookies with the children-we hoped they enjoyed tasting them at home!

The book we have listened to this week was The Smed and the Smoos. We talked about the main message of the story and explored this further in a creative activity. It has been Children's Mental Health Week so we have really focused on P.S.E.D themes this week through stories everyday, which have prompted lots of discussion.

Week 4

The celebration of Lunar New Year is in full swing in EYFS. This week we have been busy creating dumplings and dishing out noodles to our friends. We have listened to the story of Dragon's in the City- where we saw a little girl celebrate Chinese New Year with her family. We have also been watching videos of the celebrations that will take place in Manchester at the weekend.

We also saw our own dragon arrive into Nursery- and he had brought some dragon eggs with him! We have been working hard counting the eggs for the dragon.

Week 3

We have enjoyed creating dragon skin with our lovely student this week- Jessica. The children experimented with different colours to create a unique effect on the bubble wrap, using rolling tools to apply the paint. We have been using percussion instruments in our music sessions. Below is the link to our favourite Winter themed song!

Children enjoy being able to choose in our Nursery, and with that freedom, they are able to take control of their learning and develop it in ways that they want. We love watching and joining in, when appropriate, with the play in the setting. We have been busy making potions in the water tray, creating different lands for the dragons to live in and enjoying the new resources in the sand area.

Week 2

The children used Kindles to complete puzzles this week! We looked at the different jigsaw pieces, rotating and placing them in their correct positions.

The morning and full time children really enjoyed the gymnastics session on Tuesday. We were so impressed with their independence skills and confidence shown in the session. We finished the week with the afternoon and full time children taking part in their second football session.

We have enjoyed our new text 'We're off to Find a Fairy'. This inspired us to go on our own fairy hunt in the outdoor area.

Welcome back! We had lots of fun in the snow this week. We enjoyed listening to the crunching underfoot, spotting pawprints/footprints and feeling the snow with our hands-wow,it was cold! On Friday we explored painting the snow with brusho and watching it melt on the radiator.
