Phonics and reading
Each week your child will bring home their new reading books and phonic homework sheet. This will usually be on a TUESDAY. The phonic reading books give the children an opportunity to practise their reading skills. The 'shared' reading books are to be read together with an adult.
Please regularly hear your child read at home and help them practise their reading skills - we ask that families aim for 10 minutes every day. This support at home is vital to help build your child's skills, confidence, fluency and enjoyment.
The children are now quite familiar with the phonics sheets and use their segmenting and blending skills to read the words. Please complete them in PENCIL and put them back in the reading folder ready to be marked for the following week.
