Thursday 8th May.
We have had such a busy day, today. To celebrate VE day, the whole school had a sing song of 1940's songs in the playground and waved the flags that we made earlier in the week.
After lunch time, we had a visit from the Year 5 Victoria Park Juniors children, who came to share some of the books and stories they have made. It was lovely to see the older children again and 1C have been inspired by their creativity.

Update: Class photographs are on Tuesday next week. As this is our PE day please send your child to school wearing their yellow uniform tops and green jumpers with their usual PE bottoms and trainers.
What a lovely sunny few days we have had. We hope everyone enjoyed the bank holiday weekend and the children have been back working hard at school. Today we are celebrating the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
This week we are learning about position and direction such a left, right, forwards, backwards. Please help your child to remember their left and right.
We are sending home information about the phonics screen for homework this week, along with some real and 'pseudo' words to practise.
We have also been revising the split digraphs a_e and e_e in our phonics sessions. You may know this as 'magic e'. If you visit phonicsplay.co.uk and select a_e or e_e, your child will be able to practise sorting the words into real/ nonsense online.
Here is a website I showed the class so we can see the positions of the planets in space.
Thank you for all of your support at home.

Wednesday 30th April
This week we have been working hard finding halves and quarters of shapes and quantities. There is a link below to a website we have used to show the children how fractions need to be equal parts to make a whole.
We have also introduced our new book, Beegu by Alexis Deacon. We have written sentences about how we would make her feel welcome on Earth. We decided we would definitely look after her in 1C!
Please remember:
All uniform needs to be labelled with your child's name. As the weather is warmer this week we are finding lots of unnamed jumpers and cardigans.
See you after the bank holiday weekend,

Wow what an exciting day we had yesterday! We had a visit from the Wonderdome to introduce our new topic. Annette taught us all about the solar system, the moon landing, Mars, and current space exploration and it was brilliant! It was paid for by our fantastic PFTA (thank you!) All of the children (and adults) were fully immersed in it and it has sparked further interest and creations in the classroom.

Wow what a brilliant first day back we've had! The children enjoyed hearing about our new space topic. We have something very exciting planned for tomorrow morning...!
Reading books have been changed today, they will now usually be changed on Tuesdays.
Library day will stay as Wednesday so please send the books back tomorrow.
Spelling books will go home tomorrow to learn for next Tuesday. I was blown away by how well the children have done when I checked the spellings over the holidays. Keep up the amazing work!
