Hello R2 Families
This we week have been busy exploring our senses. We enjoyed investigating sweet, salty and sour foods. The overall fave was the sweet skittles but many children loved the sour lemons and some asked for more!
Miss Gorey took the children on a listening walk outside, where they really focused on the sounds they could hear. Our senses of smell were put to the challenge too! The children had to identify and name different smells and they did a great job.
In maths we have practised showing numbers to 5 on a 5 Frame by physically moving the counters. We then moved on to showing 1 more and 1 less (which are early addition and subtraction skills!)
They icy, cold weather brought about lots of excitement! We cosied up and went outside to explored Jack Frost's work!
The songs for our Christmas performance were introduced to the children this week and they are making super progress already with singing along to the words. Next week, we'll go into the hall to begin to rehearse, exciting!
Next week we will continue to find out about the senses touch and sight and we will explore positional language in maths.
We are trying hard to encourage independence in the children. Please help us at home by showing them how to pop their hats, scarves and gloves in their pockets and down their sleeves to store them until they are needed.
Have a lovely weekend!
