Wow wow wow! I’m so proud of all of 2F you were amazing in the school play!

Netball

An invitation to a netball match last Sunday morning gave some of our Year 2 children a great experience!

Monday 24/11/25

Today we performed our ukulele song to the whole school.
This is the last week of formal PE before Christmas as the stage goes up but we will be doing alternative PE outside weather permitting.

Please encourage your child to learn their play lines as quickly as possible if they have a speaking role. You may end up being a few roles yourself so they practice coming in at the right time.
We are looking forward to the excitement of the play and the celebrations in school such as the pantomime and the party and plans are well in place.

We are starting this week by looking at we are going on a bear hunt book and alternative stories such as we are going on an elf hunt in preparation for the elf on the shelf and the fun it brings starting on Monday!
In maths we are continuing to practice multiplication and division by recognising the signs.
Last week we made paper great fire of London style houses and today we burnt them to show that windy and dry conditions and what happened as the fire spread quickly.

Maths Homework 14/11/25

Please download the app as shown and click on multiplication section. Please follow the steps and start on 10 x 2 x and 5 x tables. The other sections in multiplication help us understand how to multiply and work in ‘lots of’ and have many handy hints to click on.
for extension there are fast fact recall sections and other times tables to work on if your child needs a challenge.
This app is fantastic for mental arithmetic and fact recall too!

What an exciting week it’s been! It was lovely to meet all the parents at parents evening this week and to get the opportunity to get to know you all better.
This week continued with multiplication in maths and looked more closely at why the Great Fire of London happened in English. The fire engine caused a great deal of excitement on Monday and was a super start to us looking at modern fire engines and calling 999 as an essential part of the topic. Monday was also a special day as we listened to Carrie’s parents performing with a range of instruments and also Carrie made a guest appearance with her viola.
We are beginning to look at the school play and time will fly before our performance.. This year it will be solely a year 2 play and everyone will have a part. It’s going to exciting and fun practising in the coming weeks. The script may be sent home to children with speaking parts. Thank you for your support!

Week beginning 3/11:25

This week we started our new topic of London. We looked briefly at Guy Fawkes and the gun powder plot and discussed safety rules for bonfire night.

We moved onto looking at The Great Fire of London and Samuel Pepys so it really has been about History in school this week.
In maths we have started our multiplication topic and have been securing our counting in 2,3,4,5 and 10’s. Please count in these multiples at home. The easier your child finds counting in multiples the easier they will find learning multiplication tables later in the year.

We all enjoyed the visit of current England Goal shooter Eleanor Cardwell who really inspired the children to chase their dreams.

Odd socks day is on Monday 10th! Don’t forget your odd socks.
Next week we start rehearsals for the school play! Christmas is coming fast!

Welcome back class 2F!

PE days remain the same for the next month. Starting in December we will fit PE around rehearsals for the school play.
Welcome to a new half term all about the Great Fire of London, Guy Fawkes and London tourism.

Please see the newsletter for more details of the curriculum this term.
