Homework this half term

Phonics and reading

Our phonics and reading homework remain the same, thank you for all of your support so far!

As we are continuing to progress through our phonics scheme, the phonic sheet that I am sending home for homework has a slightly different format. There is now a lot more emphasis on practising reading skills, understanding what the word means and spellings. Please complete them in pencil and put them back in the reading folder ready to be marked for the following FRIDAY.

It is also important to continue to listen to your child read. The books they bring home can be read multiple times during the week giving your child the chance to build up their confidence when reading independently. Please write in their orange reading record book when you have listened to them. Many thanks.

Spellings

We are now trialling spellings homework through Purple Mash. Starting Monday 12th January, in your '2Do' tab, there will be a quiz (to practise the spellings as many times as you like) and also a test to complete when your child has learnt to spell the words.

It is really important that your child completes the test on Purple Mash, as new spellings will be added each week (on a Friday). At school we are continuously revisiting the words but we need your support at home as well.
