Welcome back to Victoria Park Infant School

Spring 1

Survey

You will have been sent an online link to a sport England related survey. Please complete this for school. We get a report on the activity levels on our children inside and outside of school and it helps us drive PE forward within VPIS.

We receive £10 worth of equipment for every survey completed so please take the time to support this. If you need a kindle to complete this I’ll be available to help in the mornings.

Maths Homework

Your child has been sent a couple of printed sheets of maths homework to reinforce and practice our vertical addition and subtraction work.
The children have spent all week setting the sums out in a particular way and it’s important that you use the school method.
  34

+52

____

add the ones first  4+2 =6

then the tens         3+5=8

answer 86

You should find some handwritten notes with the sheets to show the methods.

I have sent some squared paper this is for working out if you need it. You do not need to use this.

Week ending 31/1

We are well into our polar regions topic and exploring the habitats and adaptations in science.

in English this week we are studying the snow queen and the use of adjectives to describe and enhance our work. We have written letters to the snow queen, created new characters for the story and written character profiles.
In maths we have been concentrating on vertical addition and subtraction. Every child is at their own unique stage and we will be continuing this topic for the next few days.
In PE the children are concentrating on rolling, forward and backward rolls and cartwheels.

Week 1                6/1/25V

It has been a busy but enjoyable first week back in 2F!

The trip to the Chill Factor was a great success, the class had a wonderful time out on the snow and enjoyed the craft activities provided after their lunch. The class behaved really well and made the most of the experience! A big thanks to the parent helpers who helped to make the trip run smoothly!

In class we focused on the Antarctica book for English and made poster and trip rules for the Chill Factore. In Maths we looked at money and problem solving.
Our new topic is Polar Regions and the class discussed what they already knew about the Polar Regions and which animals live in which polar habitats.

I will give out new spellings out from next week. We will continue to focus on common exception words in class this half term and for some children they will start to attack the harder words.

PE days will be gymnastics on Tuesdays and football skills on Thursdays.

There are still places left in most clubs but we need more children in the Thursday football club. Tom is a well qualified coach and plays semi professionally. The club is a great way to learn new skills.

Thanks
