9.1.26
It has been a great first week back in 2F. The children have settled into the school routine really well and have produced some great work. We have started our topic 'The Polar Regions' and began it by looking at maps of the world and locating the North and South poles, discussing their climate and their features. In Science we have been exploring polar animals. In Literacy we read the story of the Snow Queen and used it as the basis for our written work, focusing on describing words. In Maths we used coins to make different amounts and started to solve problems involving pounds and pence.
Next Wednesday we have our trip to the Snow Centre. Children should come to school in comfortable. warm clothing and bring a hat and gloves. (It would be preferable if the gloves were waterproof but any gloves will do!) The centre will provide waterproof coats, trousers, boots and helmet but they don't always provide gloves.
For homework for this week (due Friday 23rd) I would like the children to research a Polar animal and present their research to the rest of the class. This could be a simple poster, or researched information read aloud, or a plasticine model or even a powerpoint. It only needs to be brief and is an opportunity for the class to develop speaking and listening skills. Think of it as a topic based show and tell! We will discuss ideas in class to help the children.
PE days are Monday and Tuesday starting 6/1/26.
Happy New Year to 2F and families.
Welcome back to school tomorrow we have missed you and look forward to seeing you:
