Welcome back R2 families!
We have had a lovely, busy and very chilly first week back! The snowy weather has been very exciting. We have a new topic 'What a Wonderful World!'. We began reading an awesome 'hook book' to get our topic underway. Why not share the story at home together by following this link...
We used the Google Earth app on the big white board to zoom in and out from our school right into space! It was very exciting! We could see that earth is covered in land and water and went on to paint the earth...
In Drawing Club this week we shared a very funny story calle 'There's a Pig Up My Nose'. This was a great story to get us all giggling and sharing funny ideas for our drawing club work! The children have amazing imaginations!
The highlight of the week has been the snow! It was so cold and very slippy though so we mainly kept snug inside to keep warm and safe. But we did get out for some snow fun...
We are going to be having some work done on the school roof soon and we had a visit from some special people who work to protect bats in their habitats. They had to go up into the loft and the loft is in or classroom! They were very friendly and stopped to have a chat about their important job. They were so impressed about the children's knowledge of bats.
We had an extra PE session this week with Steve, our football coach and the children thoroughly enjoyed it. It was great to have our friday PE fun too, playing team games with Mr Shingler...
So, what a fun filled week! Next week we will begin gymnastics lessons with our gymnastic coaches. This will be on Tuesdays, so PE kits as usual. The cold weather is set to continue, so please make sure the children are as snuggly as poss in their hats, scarves and gloves please. We'll be exploring our topic further by learning about the planets in space!
Enjoy your weekends and keep warm and safe everyone!
