Welcome back to Victoria Park Infant School

Week 3

Hello Everyone

We are really enjoying our topic work at the moment. We continued to learn about the life cycle of a Butterfly and made a visual life cycle using pasta!

Subitising in maths is when you say how many of a small group of objects without counting them. This a vital mathematical skill in early maths. The children are also securing their number bonds to 10, so we used subitising to make number bonds with dot plates and the children loved this practical maths activity.

We began learning about plants this week too. We learnt about the different parts of a plant. We did a super job of drawing a diagram of the parts of a plant and then we labelled it, using our phonics to spell new words.

The most enriching parts of the day are when the children choose their own journeys in their play. They play so beautifully together and have the best imaginations! Here is some indoor and outdoor continuous provision fun!

This week we have a concerning amount of children that haven't read and/or done their phonics homework. It is so important that the children work with you at home to support and consolidate their learning. We hugely value this support as it will help them to reach their best possible potential, meet Age Related Expectations in Reception and raise their confidence as little learners.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!
