Hello R2 Families
Thanks for a lovely week. This week, we shared a great book called 'Marvellous Me!' from our PSHE scheme 'Think Equal'. We explored our individual uniqueness and celebrated our similarities and differences. The children listened beautifully and thoughtfully. We went on to look at our faces in the mirror and identified our skin shades, hair and eye colour. We went on to create some amazing self-portraits which will take pride of place on display in our classroom ![]()
We got our Floppy's Phonics scheme underway this week too and have explored 's' and 'a' together. The children have their own phonics workbooks that they consolidate their learning in every week. Copies of this work are sent home every Friday too to help really embed their learning with you at home. I really appreciate your support at home with their reading and phonics and I hope that you have enjoyed time together doing this. This coming week, we will learn 't' and 'p'.

In maths we have been mastering numbers 1 2 and 3. We've been enjoying 'Dough Disco' on the carpet as a whole class, to limber up our arms, wrists, hands and fingers in preparation for hand writing.
Next week, as part of our 'Getting to Know Me and Getting to Know You' topic, we will begin to talk about our families, who they are and how very special they are to us.
Thank you for emailing me to let me know whether or not you are attending the 'Meet the Teacher' curriculum meeting on Monday. Please let me know if you haven't already. Thanks also for emailing your family photos also, we will use these as part of our topic learning next week.
Time for a moan! I have 9 lovely (most new!) jumpers and cardigans with no names in. I cannot reunite them with their owners unless they are named. Please, name everything, thanks. A few children aren't bringing water to school. This is really important, so please send them in with a fresh, named bottle daily. I have also sent a few reminders about Flu Vaccine forms which need to be returned to school please.
Thanks again everyone, have a lovely weekend and Mrs McKee and I can't wait to see you all for another lovely week on Monday.
