National 75^th VE Day anniversary commemoration

To celebrate VE Day we would like you to take part in some history activities.

First it would be helpful to watch the video clip to explain why the celebrations did and are still taking place.

We would like you, if possible, to-

Speak to a relative/grandparent/ great grandparent on the phone– do they remember any celebrations of VE day?

Have a look at 1945 street party photographs which can be found at www.thehistoryvan.com/ve-day-with-the-van/

Can you see things that look different to the present day? Look at people’s clothes, hair and perhaps what they are eating?

Perhaps you could have your own celebration at home. You could make some bunting, decorate cakes and even learn some songs from a long time ago.
